Welcome to a whole New Year

It feels like a whole new year, this 2021. Maybe it’s my brain set. And that’s okay. I say whatever gets us through. If we can feel good about a date, I say jump on board. Grab that cord and wrap it, snag the end and brace yourself. Take that ride.

I’ve nailed my goals down. I am determined this year to get two polished to perfection books from beginning -to- edit to published. A middle grade and a young adult novel. I have even put money down on The Write Practice novel in a year program that takes you from idea, to layout, to edit with agents and editors, to publishing. I’ve named it my Get Your Bootie Super Glued to the Bottom of Your Chair. Spread your bottom, extend your pages program. Goal two) I will blog at least once every two weeks. Yes, I know, it will cause major migraines of insufferable pain just attempting to pull something from my tiny mind with tweezers to write, but I’ll find it. I’m sure. I bribe, I cry, I have temper tantrums down to an award-winning performance. Goal 3) Goodreads and I have signed a private contract. Something to do with reading 40 books this year. Oh, and they need to be both non fiction and fiction, and none of this all short stories. Nope, this year, we toss in some actual three or four hundred pages… I know! Right?

I wrote my resolutions in pencil at a specific time for the month of January. This is the 6:00 am exercise M,W,T,F, W1; M,T,T,F, W2, etc. Laundry, Cleaning, etc. I’ve gotten to know myself pretty well in the last 63 years and I pencil these resolutions in because of my tendency to promise myself I’ll stick with them, but things get switched around or dropped off the old calendar usually by month two. But then after a month or two down the road, I’ll recall how good I felt, and that I got through that first month. So maybe… and then I do, re-attempt these resolutions at least twice more during the year.

Here I am at the 3rd of January with a smile on my face, yeah. Join me for the rest of the year and see if we all make it to the end grinnin’, Okay?
