The Eyes of July 4th / Only You Can Prevent Forest Fires

Happy 4th of July in Utah! Where one spark, one tiny piece of a lit firework, smoldering, can and will, ignite our drought devastated state to the ground. Happy 4th of July, Where the skies are filled with a haze
off the fumes from the fires leaving our mountains stained black and treeless. Welcome
4th of July, our eyes are watching you. Only you can prevent forest fires.

The last couple of years, the water distribution into Utah’s rivers and lakes have decrease substantially. Poor results from low snow fall and runoff levels, matter. The water levels in Lake Powell are low. Under 30 feet. The BOR (Bureau of Reclamation) due to revised water level projections, has recalculated and refiled. And determined it necessary to close the motor ramps. According to the Lake Powell Water Database, the levels are dangerous to boaters and can turn deadly to swimmers. The Great Salt Lake is also taking a very nasty beating with the drought. If you haven’t taken a walk out to almost the middle of the lake, you’re missing out on a wild trip. It is an exceptional learning experience. Years ago, Morton Salt had a salt factory out by the lake. Today, the Great Salt Lake has dropped nearly 50 percent. That’s horrible. But, I digress.

It’s not just the big lakes. Let’s look at the other bodies of water affected, the reservoirs that feed to the lakes. The entertaining hotspots if you would. At the damn sites, all’s okay, but further out, is coming in slowly. what used to span miles is inching in closer to the just the middle of the excavated deep damn. We’ll begin our fun spots at Deer Creek. The reservoir is low, at the damn site, itself the depth is 235 feet, located up Provo Canyon in Wasatch County, this reservoir feeds into Utah Lake. The Bureau of Reclamation constructed Echo Reservoir during the depression. It is off I-80 and under construction. Closed. The Strawberry Reservoir is deepest at 200 feet and is great for fishing and camping but leave the boat at home. Without a boat ramp, it’s bottoms into mud, beware. Flaming Gorge is a large lake and reservoir in Utah and Wyoming. The reservoir is in Wyoming at 6040 feet deep. Used mainly as a camping and fishing family spot. Well, maybe it extends but it’s puddles more than lake in the end. Jordanelle Reservoir is a beautiful swimming, water skiing, and fishing lake, up above Heber and Park City and is 220 feet is depth for fast deep fishing and a lot of super overnight stays in a great year, not this year. But, for a water get away, it does have water, but goes easy, it’s just about the only one. And then there are the smaller Reservoirs that are used to hold water for agriculture: Gunnison Reservoir and Delta which are used for irrigating. Unfortunately this year, just like Nine Mile, these are almost gone. Dried up, nothing left for the most part, to feed the cattle in the field or push water down the field water turns. Our once beautiful Yuba Lake flowed full and deep is nothing but a little pond. You can’t replace what is gone, evaporated and not replaced. Without the hand of God blessing my little state, there isn’t enough water to vacation, swim or irrigate. So please don’t celebrate-with fireworks.

Spare the air of ash and haze, keep us free of fire’s blaze. Don’t use fireworks. We have signs posted in our mountains, in our towns, and along our highways, no water, please don’t burn. Please people, for the sake of those living in a drought state, Don’t. Shoot. Off. Fireworks. Keep a bucket with water beside you all the while you are shooting off fireworks. Sparklers are lit matches. Please Refrain, Fires aren’t a game.

Happy 4th of July

Halloween Parade

Halloween Parade
09/25/2019

Where have I been… thinking I can do nine things at once. Guess what. (pink cheeks and eyes toward the ceiling) I can’t. That’s right. But I did get this out by the 25th. I just never made it back to the computer to brag about it… Noodle time.

But its OUT, UP, and ABLE to be purchased. Whether you want it through Amazon or the mail, it be available. I am tickle with the way this turned out. Truly darling pictures and not a one too scary. Hey, I am a wimp and I did have my doubts. If it scared me, would it scare a little dude? Probably not, they can handle a lot more then me. I scream when kittens jump out at me! I’m not kidding.

Anyway, here it be… a fun little book about a Halloween Parade and the adventure you’ll see as my buddy’s, Dracula, the Wolf-man, Frankenstein and Elvira the witch make a trip down a sidewalk one Halloween evening.

May you have a wonderful day this October 1st. 2019. I’m pulling out all my cute, and scary, Halloween decorations. Join me and decorated your home too.

Waaaaaah
