2020 Bye Bye

As the years pile on, the thrill slips away. I find my eagerness toward holidays wane. People need power cords or batteries. A zap of energy would work for me.

In earlier years, I loved to decorator. When we had a holiday coming round, I’d break out the boxes or take a quick trip to the closest hobby store. By the way, it’s also a great time for a good cleaning. When the red, white, and blue is replaced with back to school, remember to rearrange the furniture too. I’ve learned, the hard way, that a wayward plastic spider found roaming the floor around Thanksgiving isn’t fun.

I loved that feeling of joy going from Halloween to Thanksgiving, to Christmas.

And then a new year arrives with eagerness. January is a decoration free, wiped down, squeaky clean beginning. A new start with a list of goals and trips to make.

2020 Began exactly as it should. February was good. March had a whole unique plan… No, oh no, from here the world went kaput.

So, from here on out… I am demanding a synopsis. A little idea on what’s coming around the corner each month. Thank you… please. No COVID-19, no earthquake, or hundred miles an-hour winds that knock over the neighbor’s trees against our house.

I spent a couple of days boxing up the few Thanksgiving decorations and bring down the Christmas decorations. Halloween was a bust. Fall wasn’t much, and I didn’t know how much of Christmas I cared to display. After grinching a moment, I’m happy to say, the stockings are up; the lights are lit, and we welcome Santa to play. I have bulbs on my tree, and a present or three, I’m ready for Christmas day.

Have a Healthy and Safe Holiday Season!

It’s December 1st… Are you ready?

2020 is coming to an end… Only 30 more days!

We’ve missed so much ‘together time’ with our family and friends this year, that I know I’ll be utilizing Christmas Cards as a special way to reach out and say “Hi.” How are you and yours doing this trying Covid year.” Let’s kick this 2020 out of the way. Cards are a great way to put a hand out and say, “We’ve been thinking of you!”

I’ve removed everything Halloween, Pumpkins, Autumn, and Thanksgiving from the mantle and the shelves. I re-boxed them up and even taken them down the stairs. I returned upstairs and plopped down on the couch. Yep, it all looks so nice and clean. And then I watch the Television. This commercial comes on about a woman setting down a couple of pairs of shades and telling her husband she bought them today for Christmas and he shows her what he bought that day, a red car and a black truck. The wife takes the truck the husband wanted. And then it hits me. Duh, when those boxes go downstairs, you take the next holiday boxes upstairs with you. It’s another holiday that I’ve accumulated an assortment of knickknacks and ornaments. And score! This one also comes with a tree to use floor space that I don’t have. No worries, I still manage anyway.

So, with all the boxes sitting around me, I thought I’d take a break and write out my Christmas cards. If I don’t do it now, I might accidentally re-box them and then I’ll end up forgetting them until December 2021 and I’m really anxious to get 2020 over with. And we all Need A Little Christmas Cheer, especially this year!

Happy Decorating
