I gave it a week,
Might I say it was sweet,
Then I loosened the knot,
And wham, I fell to my knees,
I cried out, “Quick, I need a repeat!”
I blew it. I embraced it.
I gave my heart at the start of the year,
Day 1 through 7th, not a scratch, not a tear.
On the 8th day, it happened,
My world crumbled, it all fell apart,
My computer crashed,
“No,” I yelled out, “Dude, it’s too soon,
I need a new start. What am I gonna do?”
The words ricocheted throughout the room.
Is this a glimpse into another year of doom?
The pandemic kept me in lock down,
I occupied my time writing until I was spent.
Now, encased on a dead hard drive
I can’t recover any of those documents?
Well… I’m just not ready, oh no, there is no way
I’m accepting this roller coaster ride for another day.
With a new computer and soon a vaccine
I’m taking on this year by its ring a ding, a ding, ding, a ding, ..a ding,.. ding ..ding
And that’s the way I see it;
